World First in Project Management for Australian CompanyThe PRINCE2 course was conducted at the Paris Campus of ESC Lille, in English, as part of the ESC Lille International Masters in Project and Programme Management. The Masters Students were from France, Morocco, Algeria, India, China, Mexico, Thailand and Australia. The course has been run every year since 2002 and is a favourite of the international students. Lizz Robb and Brian Phillips from Yellowhouse were delighted with the results. "The first course in 2002 was the culmination of six months of extremely hard work," Lizz said. "For an Australian company to deliver this course took a lot of planning and negotiation with stakeholders in Paris, London, Sydney and Canberra."
We had to establish a PRINCE2 ATO (Authorised Training Organisation) through a strategic relationship with the University of Technology, Sydney. We worked closely with PRINCE Australia in Canberra and the PRINCE2 controlling body in London (APM Group) to develop the training program and gain ATO status. "At the same time, we worked with ESC Lille through Professor Christophe Bredillet to finalise details for PRINCE2 as a Masters subject, in partnership with Dr Lynn Crawford from UTS." PRINCE2 is the de facto project management standard for the UK government and is widely recognised as a best-practice methodology. The major features of PRINCE2 are the emphasis on effective project controls, and the concept of ‘management by exception'. This approach provides many benefits, including more effective project management of time, cost and quality elements. These are the areas where many projects flounder. PRINCE2 training is now available in Australia through Yellowhouse. It is offered as a five-day Practitioner Course or as a one-day Management Overview. Practitioner Course delegates can articulate into the Masters in Project Management degree at the University of Technology Sydney: 15459 - PM Methodologies. This means that industry-based project management training can now reach new heights of accreditation in Australia.
